That "Dementia" trailer from a few weeks ago did a great job at not showing the upcoming sequel Dead Space 2, so this fresh batch of screenshots issued by Electronic Arts should be a welcome addition - as should be the EA Showcase video interview with the game's executive producer, Steve Papoutsis, in which he talks a bit about the game. Yeah, they tend to do that in interviews...

The horror shooter sequel Dead Space 2 is once again developed by Visceral Games for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The story picks up three years after the original, with Isaac Clarke returning for another heart-pounding adventure, taking the fight to the Necromorphs in this thrilling action-horror experience. New tools to gruesomely slice and dismember the Necromorphs complement Isaac's signature plasma cutter, empowering him as he meets new characters, explores epic zero-G environments, and fights against a relentless Necromorph onslaught.

A release date for Dead Space 2 has yet to be announced, but trembling fans might be interested in the the first novel based on the games. It's titled Dead Space: Martyr, and it's coming out worldwide in July 2010.
"Dead Space: Martyr delves into the back story of the fiction including the history of the Church of Unitology, the discovery of the enigmatic "Black Marker" and the mysteries behind an alien artefact of unknown power.

When geophysicist Michael Altman learns of a mysterious signal emitting from deep within the Chicxulub crater, he cannot resist the lure of an undiscovered artefact. He soon learns that being in close proximity to the artefact causes strange occurrences - visions of the dead, vivid dreams, and violent murders. Altman's experience with the alien artefact leads to this crucial first chapter in the Dead Space saga."

Oh, and let's not forget: the screenshots.
